Facilities

Changing rooms, toilets, showers are available at the Pendleton Sports Centre.

PLEASE NOTE: All muddy shoes MUST be taken off before entering the brand new sports centre!


Important Times

8:45am to 9:40am Registration and number collection at Pendleton Sports Centre

8:45am to 9:20am On-the-Day Entry at Pendleton Sports Centre

9:40am Short walk to the ‘Pre-race area’. (Follow the signs)

9:50am Short walk to the start line

9:55am Event briefing / final instructions (at the ‘Pre-race area’)

10:00am Race Start (Don’t be late!)


Getting there

We would like to encourage as many people as possible to walk, run or cycle to the school on race day to avoid congestion and to warm up.


Car Parking

There will be ample parking at the Pendleton Sports Centre and the school playground will act as the over-flow car park if required. If you are driving, please try to arrive as early as possible to minimise disruption. Please drive SLOWLY and with caution through the school grounds.


‘On the Day’ entries

If we do not reach our entry limit then we will be accepting ‘On the Day’ entries.  On the Day entry: Price £13 adults, £7 concessions


Left Baggage

Baggage may be left at the Pendleton Sports Centre in the designated area. Please attach a label to your bag with your race number on. All baggage is left at the owners risk. We recommend leaving any valuables in your car or with a friend / relative at the start.


Race numbers

In order to take part in the event you MUST be wearing your race number.

You can collect your number from Race HQ at Pendleton Sports Centre from 8:45am on race day.


Race Instructions / etiquette

The whole course is off road, so there is no traffic. This does mean that a large portion of the terrain will be uneven underfoot. Please take care on the uneven ground reducing your pace if necessary.

  • The majority of the event is held on public land, please give priority to members of the public and thank anyone that allows you pass. Any complaints may jeopardise future events.
  • Please pay attention to, and follow all instructions given by the marshals.
  • Please thank the marshals, they are all volunteers and are there to make sure you enjoy the event.
  • Be aware that members of the public may be walking dogs on some of the course
  • If you intend to walk all or part of the course, please start towards the rear of the field
  • Please stick to the left of the tracks wherever possible and be mindful of others that may wish to overtake you
  • The course is one large 5k loop going in a clockwise direction.
  • Please encourage or congratulate all other runners or walkers whether they are ahead or behind you. Everyone is facing their own challenge, whether it’s completing the event or winning it.

Water

There will be a water station at approx 3.25k, water will be provided in plastic cups. Please place cups in the bins provided.


Health and Safety

There will be marshals at regular points along the course

There will be first aiders at the water station and at the Start/finish area.

If you are experiencing any difficulty please identify yourself to a marshal who will be able to call for assistance.


Hayfever / Asthma Sufferers

The course is off road and goes through farmers fields and as such may affect sufferers of hayfever. Please ensure you have taken your usual medicine or remedy before competing.

If you suffer from asthma, please ensure you carry your inhaler.


Race Day Filming / Photography

Filming and Photography before, during and after the race will be provided by Hertfordshire / Bedfordshire Aerial Drone Filming and Photography experts Birds Eye Studios.


ipods / mp3 players

The use of ipods or mp3 players IS permitted but please be aware of other runners and walkers around you. Some of the course is a little narrow and you may be obstructing someone behind you.


Dogs

Entrants are allowed to bring their dogs along with them during the event provided that they are on a lead or in a harness. At registration, dogs are allowed onto the school grounds but they are not allowed to enter any of the school buildings or enter the Pendleton Sports Centre.


Litter

Please take all litter home with you. Part of the course runs across private farmland which we are very kindly allowed to use. Please don’t jeopardise future events by littering.
Bins will be provided at the water station and a short distance after for plastic cups.


Anti-social behaviour

The race organisers will not tolerate any threatening, abusive, racist, sexist or other antisocial behaviour against officials, volunteers or other participants. Anyone displaying such behaviour will be disqualified from the event, banned from future events and if necessary reported to the relevant authorities.


Weather on the day

As the course is off road, wet weather may make the course muddy and slippery in places. If this happens please wear appropriate footwear. Please check the following places for up to date news.
